MEET OUR COACHES
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We’re dedicated to the development of all swimmers while still having fun! Our goal is to help discover each individual’s passion for swimming and help fulfill their potential as a competitive swimmer.
The Super Sharks is committed to the personal growth of each individual in and out of the pool—for life. Many of our swim coaches started with the Club as younger swimmers. We have a tradition of providing the opportunity for dedicated older team members to support the coaching staff as volunteer coaches, and move up into paid junior coach positions when they’ve gained enough experience.

Hi everyone! My name is Octavian, but you can call me Octa for short. I am very pleased and thrilled to be part of the Super Sharks Swimming team as one of the coaches. Just a few things about me. . .I learned and discovered my love for swimming when I was four years old. Since then, I have joined multiple competitions both in the national and international arena and won several medals and awards. I am known for my butterfly and freestyle strokes and for being a sprinter (in Finswimming). I began Finswimming in 2006 as a sprinter (50m, 100m, 200m) and I’ve won medals at provincial, national, and international levels. My biggest achievement was a Gold in the 2011 Sea Games, and being named ‘Best Male Swimmer’ in the Nationals University League 2013. I started coaching in 2014 in Singapore, and since 2022 in Canada.
I am very excited to impart my knowledge and skills to our swimmers. I try my best to make swimming practice not only valuable but also fun!

Hey Super Sharks! I'm happy to be coaching for another season! This will be my 4th year coaching with SUP and my main goals are to help swimmers in developing and improving their fundamentals while creating a fun and supportive environment. I've been involved with swimming since 2012 and have been with Super Sharks since 2019. Prior to moving to Vancouver and joining SUP, I swam with the Squamish Pirates. My best stroke over the years has varied, although by high school I was set on breaststroke. I've been fortunate to earn awards from SUP and Squamish such as Leadership and Most Promising Swimmer. In the summer of 2022, I was awarded the V&D BCSSA Regional Prize which helped pay part of my tuition. Outside of swimming, I'm a first year student studying Computer Systems and Programming at BCIT—AI has also been one of my passions.

This is my first year coaching for Super Sharks, however I am no stranger around a pool or water. I started swimming competitively when I was six for Kamloops Classic Swimming. My competitive career was short; yet I am proud that I was able to achieve AAA times by the age of 12 in a couple of events. My favourite stroke is breaststroke. Like many others, I transitioned into lifeguarding and swim instructing. I still lifeguard in the summers and you can find me on the beaches or at the outdoor pools in Vancouver. I have had the pleasure of teaching a range of swimmers in my career, including adult non-swimmers to master swim club. A moment I am proud of is privately coaching an individual for a triathlon and being convinced to register and complete the triathlon myself! Currently I am an elementary school teacher in Richmond, and I have coached a couple of the high schools that I previously worked at. I am excited to get to know the swimmers and to help them build confidence in their swimming abilities, even in the strokes they may not prefer.

Hi everyone! This will be my first year coaching for Super Sharks but I’ve been swimming with the club since 2010. I’m thrilled to be coaching for a club that I grew up in and looking forward to what is to come. I have made numerous memories with my friends and coaches which makes swimming so important to me. My goal as a coach is to ensure that the swimmers have the technical fundamentals of swimming then adding speed later on and for swimmers to achieve their potential in this sport. A bit about me: my favourite stroke is Breaststroke but my best event is 100 Freestyle. Surprisingly, my unforgettable memories include practices from Hell week and of course swim meets. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be a coach and hope to see you at the pool!

Hi everybody! This is my first year coaching at Super Sharks and will definitely not be my last. I have been competitive swimming since 2013. However, I first joined Super Sharks in 2014, when I was 9 years old. Currently, I am in my final year of highschool, ready to share my knowledge of swimming with all of the swimmers in Super Sharks. I have earned my fair share of medals and achievements and now I am prepared to enter the next chapter of my swimming career: coaching. I love coaching the younger swimmers and the more the swimmers improve, the more passionate I become. Seeing swimmers constantly improving, really drives me to continue working hard and to keep on supporting the younger swimmers to the best of my ability. I am so excited for this season and I am eager to see what the future holds.
